Awards

Kapil Dev was honored with Padma Shri award in 1982. He was also honored with the Padma Bhushan in 1991. In 2002 he is honored with Wisden Indian Cricketer of the Century.

Early Years

Kapil dev Basically from Rawalpindi, his father was a building and timber contractor. During the partition in1947 jhis parents had migrated to India. He went to the DAV School and later attended St. Edward’s School in Shimla. He started playing cricket as a school boy and was selected to play for Haryana in domestic cricket.

Description

Kapil Dev was the greatest pace bowler and the greatest fast-bowling all rounder India has ever had. Such was the aura of the persona of this man that at one point of time he became the highest wicket taker in test and One Day International Cricket. Along with Imran Khan, Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee, Kapil Dev was considered the greatest all rounder of his times. He is now residing with his family and activley participates in sports talk shows and can be seen commentating in the field or sports channels.
