National Film Award (1997) for Sardari Begum, National Film Award(2000) as Best Actress for Bariwali, IIFA Best Supporting Actress for Devdas (2003), Bronze Leopard Award in Locarno International Film Festival (2003) and Best Female Actor in Karachi International Film Festival (2003) for Khamosh Pani (Silent Waters), Star Screen Award as Best Supporting Actress in Rang De Basanti (2006) and as Best Actress in Supporting Role (2010) for Kurbaan.

Early Years

Kirron Kher was born in Mumbai to Jatt Sikh parents, and brought up in Chandigarh, Punjab, where she did her schooling and later college from Panjab University, Chandigarh. At school she was an avid Badminton player along with her sister, Arjuna awardee Kanwal Thakar Singh, their mother Diljit Singh was also active in sports and dramatics in in her college days in pre-partition Punjab. Kirron also had a brother, painter Amardeep Singh, who passed away in 2003.

Education

She graduated from the Department of Indian Theatre of Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Description

Kirron Kher is an actor who has come from Indian theatre. Further she signed many Hindi, Punjabi and Malayalam films along with TV serials and talk shows. She has also judged many talent hunt shows like India's Got Talent(IGT) and is an activist in the field of women empowerment. Now she is also a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She has done many films namely Devdas, Veer-Zara, Main Hoon Na, Fanna, Rang De Basanti,Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Dostana and many more. She is happily married to her second husband Anupam Kher and believes in numerology.So she changed her name from "Kiron" to "Kirron".
